Belt axes have been a common accessory for woodsmen and soldiers from the American rifleman of the revolutionary war to soldiers in the civil war. Based on an original 18^th century example, our belt axe weighs between 1 lb and 1.5 lb. Hand forged from three pieces - wrought iron wrapped and forge welded back to itself to create the eye, with tough high carbon steel forge welded on to the poll and into the cutting edge.  All completely hand hammered in our Tennessee shop.
